Faith’s POV
I went numb at her words. My body trembled as I looked at Martin, his jaw clenched tight, glaring at the woman in front of us.
“I’m sorry, Faith. I kept Sean away because… because I didn’t want him to get involved in your conflict with Aunt Matilda.”
She came closer and tried to hold my hand, but I shook her off. In an instant, my hand flew across her cheek with a hard slap.
Martin quickly hugged me because I was about to grab her hair. “How dare you! How dare you, Celine!” I screamed, my anger pouring out. I could clearly see her crying.
“I’m sorry if I kept him away from you,” she sobbed.
“Sorry!? Do you know I almost went insane when I thought my baby had died!? Do you know I’m still mourning!? You made me look like a fool!” Martin’s arms tightened around me as he tried to calm me, but it was no use. I felt deaf, drowning in rage.
