Celine’s POV
Now that they know the truth about the child, maybe I should give him back to his real parents. I know I have wronged them deeply, and it would be unfair for me to keep holding on to Sean. I leaned on the pew in tears, eyes shut tight, trying to steady my breathing.
“You’re weak!”
I jumped at the sudden voice. “Aunt Matilda?” I stammered.
She smirked as she slowly walked closer. I froze in place. “Oh, why do you look so shocked?” She laughed, crossing her arms. “Are you afraid I’ll hurt you because you betrayed me?” Her eyes burned with anger.
“L-let’s just leave the child to his parents. Sean hasn’t done anything wrong to you,” I said, trying to steady my voice, though my body shook with fear.
“That’s what you think—that they’re innocent. But you don’t know anything, Celine!”
“Why? What did Faith or I ever do to you?”
A voice came from the chapel entrance. “By Faith?” Both Aunt Matilda and I turned toward the speak
