Everyone froze.

Suddenly, Brent’s face cleared. “Hmm… yes, Martin was looking for a house because—”

“Shut up!” Martin scolded his friend sharply, even covering Brent’s mouth. Brent tried to pull his hand away and muttered a quick “sorry.”

“W-wait… what do you mean, a house? For what? For who?” Faith asked, still confused.

“I wasn’t going to tell you yet because you’re so paranoid.” Martin scratched his head as Faith waited impatiently.

“Tell me what?”

“I planned to say this later because I was worried you’d get mad… but— I asked Brent to look for a house because when we get married, I don’t want us living in a condo anymore. It’s too small for us.”

Faith just stared at him.

“M-married?” She could barely say the word.

Martin nodded shyly, scratching his head again. “I was planning to propose later, but maybe I should now…”
