Chapter 12. A Stranger

Milan’s POV

“Oh, I hadn’t thought about it,” Ava said, perking up a bit at the change in topic. “I guess I could invite a few kids from my class, but I don’t know if they would want to come.”

“Of course they would!” I said, trying to sound enthusiastic. “What kid doesn’t want to go to a birthday party? You can even have a theme, like a movie party or a game party or something.”

Ava looked at me like I was a weirdo.

“No, Mom, that’s so old school,” she said as she walked into her room.

I watched her as she climbed the stairs and was so proud of how far we had gone together.

Ava was gonna be 11 years soon and for a young wolf, it was gonna be a different year as werewolves grow faster than normal human beings.

I wondered if I should say something to prepare her for the changes she would soon be experiencing, but decided to wait until the time was right. For now, I just wanted to enjoy the moment and help her have a happy birthday. I wou
