Chapter 5. A Lonely Road
Milan’s POV
The pack’s divided, and it feels like there’s a storm brewing. I’m caught in the middle, feeling like a lone wolf in my own home.
The Alpha of the Night Shade Pack, Alpha Meyer, who is also Scott’s father, is torn as well. I can see it in his eyes.
“Milan, you’ve got to tell us who the father is,” Alpha Meyer urged me, his voice filled with concern.
“I... I can’t,” I stuttered, feeling the weight of everyone’s eyes on me. “I never got a good look at him, it was all a blur.”
The whispers wrapped around me, weaving a tapestry of opinions that stung like bitter arrows.
“She’s lying, I’m sure of it.”
“Milan should have been more careful.”
“Does she even care about the pack?”
“Why doesn’t she just leave? She’s causing trouble.”
“Maybe she’s hiding something.”
