Chapter 54. Bridging Hearts

Milan’s POV

“I don’t want to spend your father’s money. It’s your father and we are not together for me to be using or spending his money.” I said as I closed my closet.

“Besides, I don’t think I need to dress up nicely so that he wouldn’t get the impression that I was considering dating and accepting him as my mate, because I don’t know yet.”

Ava’s face fell, and I could tell she was trying to hold back tears. “But... but I just want to help,” she said, her voice quivering. “I don’t want you to be unhappy.”

I pulled her into a hug, feeling a pang of guilt in my heart. “I know you’re trying to help, and I appreciate that,” I said, my voice gentle. “But I can’t accept money from your father. It wouldn’t be right.”

Ava nodded, her eyes still downcast. “I understand,” she said, her voice quiet. “I just wanted to do something nice for you, and I thought this would help.”

I smiled, touched by her thoughtfulness. “You’re a very sweet girl, Ava,”
