Chapter 41. Bad News

Emma’s POV

“Luna,” the doctor laughs. “You are pregnant.”

I stare at the doctor in disbelief. I try to find the words to express how I am feeling but my mind is coming up blank. To be honest, I am not even sure how I feel myself. I never thought that I would ever live to see eighteen much less be a mother at nineteen.

“Would you like to go next door and see your baby?” The doctor fills the silence and all I can do is nod uncomfortably.

As the doctor leads me out of the room, I place my hand on my stomach, trying to make myself believe a life is growing within me.

The doctor leads me across the hall to a large exam room that has an ultrasound machine. She gestures for me to lay down on the hospital bed. I pull up my shirt just a little and the doctor squirts cold jelly on my belly.

Taking the ultrasound wand, the doctor gently applies pressure on my lower abdomen until she gets the view that she is looking for.

“Right there,” she says
