Madison’s POV
My palm became clammy, and my back became straight with fear. I knew, without anyone telling me, that I was in for a punishment.
Gripping the bracelet in my hold, I stared down at it for a few seconds and gradually calmed down.
The bracelet was pretty, but I was not sure if it was merely for ornamental purposes or if it had other uses. Before I could ask the old woman how it worked, she passed away.
Thinking about it once again made me feel sad and melancholic.
Entering the cart, the guard drove off instantly, and I stared outside the window to look at the passing scenery.
The old woman’s words kept ringing in my ears. Was it possible not to blame my parents? How could I just forget about everything in one single day and just because she told me to?
All because of their sins, I had almost lost my life countless times in this pack already. That alone was enough to fill me with rage and grievance.
