Chapter 99. Gazes

Madison’s POV

On arriving at Lady Vee’s chamber, she asked with a frown, “Where have you been? You’ve been away for hours. Didn’t Mara tell you that you were meant to be close to me in case I have something I need your help with? Where did you go?”

Of course, Mara did not tell me anything because she wanted me to implicate me due to the grudge she bore against me.

After thinking for a while, I finally found an excuse, “I apologize, my lady. I went to ease myself and never expected to take so long.” Thereafter, I bowed.
