Myles POV
I watched Serena’s eyes search my face for answers, and she didn’t even wait for me to sit down before she spoke again.
“What is it, Myles? Tell me.”
I rubbed the back of my neck.
“Knox brought word,” I said slowly. “Murphy… the Ghost of the Dead Revenants. He wants a meeting.”
Serena’s hands froze over the napkin she had been folding.
“You know this is probably a trap, right?”
“I know,” I said. “I’m not blind.”
“Then don’t go,” she blurted. “Please, don’t. It’s not worth it.”
“If I don’t go, it makes me look like a fool,” I told her. “Or worse, a coward. That’s not something I can afford.”
She shook her head quickly.
“Then at least don’t go alone.”
I leaned against the table with my mind already spinning with thoughts.
“Most of my men are still angry with me,” I said. “Calling them now isn’t smart. Some of them might even flock to Murphy just to get back at me.”
