Chapter 43. Why Didn’t You Come to Me?
“Can I go back to New York tomorrow? I’m not a rich man who travels abroad,” Aleah said to Rafael on the other side of the phone.
“It’ll be a while.”
“I don’t want to stay in this country, Rafael. Being here makes me constantly meet people I never want to meet. Besides, the agenda to meet your parents has already been completed.”
“We’ll talk about this later. I have to solve my problems first,” Rafael said, ending the call between them after he had said a few words of love to Aleah.
Aleah sighed heavily as she looked at her phone, which returned to the main menu. She glanced at the clock on the wall that read 6 a.m. and when she realized that it was Sunday, Aleah decided to get ready for bed.
“I’m going to spend my time off for nothing like this,” she muttered with her eyes closed. She tried to muster up some sleepiness, but when she did, her comfort was interrupted by the sound of someone ringing her doorbell.
