Chapter 53. Misunderstandings and Miracles

“Where exactly did you go, dear? You didn’t come home for days without telling me where you were or what you were doing. Why didn’t you ask permission or even say goodbye to me? Who did you go with and where did you stay?” Rafael asked when Aleah finally returned to their apartment after days of running away.

But Aleah didn’t answer him. She wordlessly waltzed right past Rafael, who stood looming in the doorway, as if he hadn’t seen her there. Rafael, seeing Aleah’s cold attitude toward him, exhaled roughly and followed her into the room. At that moment, he was surprised to find Aleah packing clothes into her suitcase.

“What are you going to do with that suitcase, honey?” Rafael asked frantically. He took a wide step toward Aleah and grabbed both of her hands to stop her from putting the clothes into the suitcase. Aleah suddenly brushed his hands away.

“Don’t touch me, you disgusting thing!” she snapped. “I’m getting out of here. You’re free to do whatever you want
