“Yeah. Sh*t.” He breathed out a short sigh as we approached his motorcycle. “And it was not only my mother that got sick. Almost everyone on that block did; everyone except me.”

“When Chad’s parents were confronted, they denied the allegations and lawyered up. We had no chance against them. They were wealthy and we did not have a lot. So of course, they ended up winning the case.” Jade continued. I could sense the anger and pain in his voice. 

“That’s terrible.” I was starting to understand it all. Chad did not tell me the whole truth, he intentionally left a whole lot of details out because he knew that it would have made him look bad. 

“Yeah,” He breathed out the word as he collected the helmets from the arm of the motorcycle. He handed me mine and proceeded to put his over his head. “I know that the actions of Chad’s parents do not speak for him. I’m not stupid.”
