Rose’s POV

I do not understand what is going on. I can’t remember the last time I smiled, or was genuinely happy. All of a sudden, I’m restricted back to my maiden quarters. Wasn’t this what I craved anyway? Shouldn’t I just stay here and be happy, considering that I didn’t have much to do?

I didn’t have anything to do at all, but that was the scariest part of it. If I was being true to myself, I was sadder because Miraelle was in there and I was not. Yes, that was my pain. I remember my parents and I miss them dearly. If I was with my parents, everything would still be in place.

My life wouldn’t have taken this turn it just took. It wouldn’t have been this complicated and terrible. I wouldn’t be thinking of staying at Alpha Kanen’s feet, the one nursing him back to full health. Yet I was thinking about how Miraelle was stroking his back, those tense muscles that I had once touched on the pretext of scratching it.
