Ameira’s POV
The internal battle waged within me, the conflicting emotions swirling like a tempest in my chest. Each beat of my heart echoed with a mixture of anticipation and uncertainty, intensified by the striking resemblance between Xandros’s words and the dream that had haunted my thoughts. A dryness settled in my throat, impeding my ability to form words. It was as if the gravity of the moment had sucked the very air from the room, leaving me gasping for breath.
Sensing my hesitation, Xandros, ever perceptive, offered an understanding retreat. “I- it’s fine if you don’t want to,” he responded, his voice tinged with a hint of disappointment. He took a step, prepared to walk me back to my room, but something deep within me compelled me to stop him. Instinctively, my hand reached out and clasped his arm, holding him steadfast in place.
