Chapter 44

Ameira’s POV

Several days had passed since my conversation with Mateo about giving him a second chance. We hadn’t started our planned dates yet, and I found myself growing increasingly anxious about it. Part of me wanted to see if things could work out between us, but another part was filled with doubts and fears.

I don’t know when he’ll begin to, so I’ve been devoting all my time to work. I had been burying myself in work to keep my mind occupied. The days blurred together as I threw myself into projects, meetings, and endless tasks.

I’m currently at the agency, and it’s almost eight in the evening, so we’ll be leaving soon. I just need to finish these files that I need to send to Ms. Liberty’s email, and then I’ll be done.

“Hey, Ameira,” Kimberly called out to me as she stopped in front of my desk. She’s one of my co-workers. I gave her a quick glance before speaking.

“What’s up?” I asked.

“Aren’t you going home yet?” she asked in return. I smil
