Chapter 51
Third person’s POV
Xandros hardly noticed his stepmother, Agnes, entering his room in their house. Lost in his thoughts, he had just arrived there from his condo after picking up his clothes. Agnes brought some snacks with her and found Xandros standing on the terrace, gazing into the distance. She approached him slowly, careful not to startle him, and pretended to cough to get his attention.
“Hey, Mom,” Xandros finally spoke when he turned and saw his mother before him. Agnes smiled warmly and placed the tray she was carrying, with a glass of refreshing orange juice and a plate of delicious cookies, on a fragile, transparent coffee table.
“I brought you some snacks,” Agnes said with a smile, her eyes filled with motherly affection for her stepson, whom she considered her true son.
