Chapter 42. Sam’s Question
SASHA’S POV
“Mom?”
Everyone turned to look at her.
“When I was pregnant with Sasha, the doctor thought she was a boy. Alan wanted to name him Leo. But when she turned out to be a girl, we named her Sasha instead.”
Mom told the story without emotion. She was neatly dressed, ready to leave.
“Leo’s a great name! Let’s hope he grows strong like a lion,” Sam commented, but no one responded.
“Sorry. I’m not suggesting anything,” Mom said, glancing at me. “The baby’s family should decide.”
That was all she said before walking out. Daniel came over to say goodbye. The jingle of his car keys made me realize he was standing right beside me.
“I’m taking your mom home,” Daniel said, patting my shoulder gently. “Pray for the best for her.”
My chest tightened. I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I hugged him and burst into tears.
“Thank you, Daniel! Thank you so much! I don’t know what I’d do without you!”
