Chapter 82. A Promise
Nina’s POV
I took a deep breath out, closed my eyes, and rubbed my forehead. I needed to stay calm and think clearly. Panic and fear would not solve anything. But every instinct told me to act, to confront my father and demand answers. Still, I knew I could not—not yet, not without something concrete.
Leo’s warnings still haunted me. His unspoken words screamed one thing: my father was dangerous. Accusing him would make me a target. I saw the terror in Leo’s eyes, a mix of self-preservation and, surprisingly, concern for me.
I rose from the chair and walked to the window, peeking through a narrow gap in the curtains. The street below was calm and dark, looking perfectly ordinary. Yet, I sensed a hidden turmoil, a ticking time bomb waiting to erupt.
