Mateo’s POV

All afternoon, I was restless like a caterpillar doused in salt, super restless, and I wanted to follow them. I stood up from where I sat. We were now at the place where dinner was held, and I didn’t look back as I headed to the hotel. I didn’t know that Phoebe was already following me, but I didn’t mind as I packed my things.

“Are you leaving? Don’t tell me you’re going to follow her?”

“I have important matters to attend to,” I said to her, lying.

“I’m coming with you,” Phoebe said.

But I didn’t answer her, and she also gathered her things. The last thing I knew was that she was already ready, and we headed inside the elevator. I sent a message to Larry that I’d go ahead to take care of some business matters, and that they should carry on with the vacation and have some fun, and the expenses are still on me even if I’m not present anymore.
