Chantal’s POV
When I got out of the bar, I was really in a hurry. I didn’t know what to do about everything that was happening. I messed up my hair, and I was flustered.
Tears welled up in my eyes, knowing that Mateo would not agree with what he heard, but why not? It should be okay with him. He should agree...
I was doing them a favor. I was just walking. I don’t know, but somehow, he managed to come after me. I couldn’t look directly at him.
I felt guilty, but for what?
I wasn’t doing anything wrong.
“Why do you want to break up with me?” he asked.
I stayed silent. I had a lot to say, but it just accumulated in my head. I didn’t speak because I didn’t have the strength to tell him, and I was so tired. I just wanted to end everything.
“Why, Chantal?” he asked again, seeming to beg for the answer he wanted.
