Chantal’s POV

They just looked at me and waited for me to settle everything, and Mom led me to my old room and let me change my clothes, then told me to take a shower and rethink my decision.

‘So there’s no way this decision would change,’ I sighed. ‘No matter how much I beg them to let me go, they just... wouldn’t.’

I was too eager to know what happened to my parents’ company and why they agreed to arrange this marriage. With my eyes feeling heavy, I searched for my phone in my purse and clicked the search bar about the business issues Mateo’s company had before our marriage was set. After minutes of scrolling, something caught my eye: an issue of Mateo that included different women per picture.

‘Does he mean that I was the tool for clearing his name?’

I laughed at learning the rubbish truth and cried. I threw all my things off my makeup table and screamed at the top of my lungs. I was crying for help, but they didn’t listen to me. Just then the
