Mateo’s POV

I was sitting in front of her now, not saying a word, and I didn’t know how to tell Chantal because it was too much to handle. First, I was confused by what the front desk said. Second, I wasn’t even sure if it was true. Third, it wasn’t even possible.

The third point was that I was invited to the court to settle the incident in which I crossed four stoplights, and that was fine with me; I could settle with that and pay for the fine easily.

My front desk called and said Chantal’s dad was there, but for no particular reason, and I started to worry that they had taken something too far or done something that shouldn’t have been done in the first place.
