Chapter 134. Home, Not So Sweet
“Are you sure this is a good place?” Reiki asked.
Elaine nodded, even as the car seemed to fly after hitting a bump. It landed back on the road and she jerked forward, before Tom straightened the car and continued the drive down to her uncle’s place.
“I grew up here.”
“Here doesn’t look like much.”
Elaine stared out the window at the dying trees on the side. Autumn was different in this town. It seemed to come out of nowhere but soon the whole town would be flooded by dead browning or orange leaves. Just like these ones that led down the main Street to her uncle’s house.
“I’ll be fine.”
She had insisted on getting a moving company to help her with her boxes but Reiki had protested. Reiki wanted to come along. Hank insisted that he followed and Tom was the unwilling third party. But they had packed up her things in record time. Not that she had much to pack.
She hadn’t thought it was possible but, she left the city with less than what she had
