Chapter 140. Voice in the Woods
“Are you sure I can’t help?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Elaine said. “Just go and keep my aunt busy, so I can finish up here.”
Elaine picked up the rest of the silver cookware and placed them on the appropriate hooks, just as the door swung open.
Aunt Megan came into the kitchen with a frown on her face. “Now, Sharon, I don’t appreciate you distracting my staff.”
“I’m not distracting—”
“She was just about to leave.” Elaine gave Sharon ‘the look.’ The look was a stern warning to Sharon to stay out of anything that concerned Aunt Megan because Sharon’s interference would just make things worse for her. “I think she wanted to order something.”
“Eat here?” Sharon began. “You mean order a to-go meal, so I can toss it in…”
Elaine’s look intensified.
“Yes, I’ve told Jude about your wonderous new meals and that’s why he came here.” Sharon’s fake smile failed. “He didn’t come to pick me up. He just came to have some of your food.”
