Chapter 136. Threat
Andrew forced a smile on his face, even as the muttering by Melvin’s voice grew louder and louder. “I swear that I’ll make you pay for what you’ve done.”
“And what have I done?” he asked.
“What?” Charles looked at him.
“Huh?” Andrew raised a brow. He didn’t know that his voice had been that loud. He thought he had said it in his mind.
“You said something. Do you have an objection or a contribution?”
“Oh no. Proceed. Everything is just fine.”
But everything wasn’t fine. He wasn’t even listening to Castor anymore, or the lawyers. All he could hear was Melvin’s harsh whispers in his voice. “Trust me. I haven’t even begun to start. And when I’m done with you, she’ll get what’s coming to her.”
“Leave her out of this,” Andrew whispered under his breath. Elaine had suffered enough. It was his fault for bringing her into this whole mess first. And then, she had lost her job on top of it. “She’s suffered enough.”
