Chapter 144. Sunrise Screams

Elaine returned to the shed as soon as the sun shed its morning light in the town. Sharon had tried to convince her to call Andrew again but she couldn’t. She wouldn’t humiliate herself. As she took the long walk home in the cool morning air, with only Sharon’s fleece jacket to give her warmth, she tried to think of all the things that had happened last evening.

Was it possible that Jude was right and that she hadn’t heard a voice in the wood? She could have spooked herself into thinking that. The day she cleaned up the shed, she’d thought of how open it was and how easy it would be for someone to sneak in there in the middle of the night while she was sleeping.
