Chapter 143. Forced Vacation

Elaine squeezed the phone and wrapped the cord around her hand as she tried for the fourth time to call Andrew but there was no response. At least the phone was ringing. But what good was a ringing phone when there was no answer.

This was too much like her relationship with Andrew. She was scratching up a post that wanted nothing to do with him. All of her love would forever be unrequited by him because he didn’t see her as someone worthy of being with him.

“Maybe he’s just busy?” Sharon said.

Elaine rolled her head, and considered calling Annette but she remembered the way the woman had looked at her after she had walked in on them kissing. Andrew had been so ready to dismiss her that moment. She wasn’t ready for Annette to point out how she had messed up.
