Chapter 150. Gut Feeling
“This town doesn’t look like much,” Harris said over the sound of rain drops pelting the roof of the car.
Andrew nodded, even as he hung his hand outside the window. They had just passed the sign that said welcome to ‘Lancaster Point, Kentwood.’ Kentwood as a whole, at least the last two of its counties wasn’t much to see. There were large unused acres, lots of abandoned buildings and the sign of a town rotting away in the after effect of a mass urban exodus. The few businesses that were here were essential services and small mom and pops businesses.
Now, he wondered at how foolish he had been to send Elaine back here where she had nothing going for her. He gripped the flowers with his other hand. They’d made several stops on the way here so that he could get some flowers and a ring. There was no point in jinxing their relationship with the bad memories of his grandfather’s ring. George’s ring. The man wasn’t his grandfather anymore.
