Chapter 35. An Old Woman’s Wish
Elaine stuffed her yoga pants into the rectangle laundry basket and she stared around at the small living room. There was still so much she had to do. Thankfully, she wasn’t needed at Kentwood this weekend.
Her clothes from last weekend still littered the floor. She’d been too upset when she returned from the Swernbach mansion to pack them up. And when she returned from the town, she’d been swamped with work. As always.
Her new glasses slipped down her face and she pushed it back up. She’d returned to doctor Roberts and got a new pair fitted like she should have. She set it on the bridge of her nose, heading for the room with the laundry basket. A knock on the door caught her attention. It had to be Mrs. Ming, the woman who did laundry for the occupants of the apartment complex.
“I’m coming.” Elaine looked around the room and stuffed the rest of the clothes that she would need for the next two weeks into the basket before opening the door and pushing out the basket
