Anna moved through the mansion, every step feeling more deliberate than the last, as though she were following an invisible thread of fate that might unravel if she veered too far off course. 

The house loomed around her, a vast, oppressive structure that now seemed to close in with every passing minute. 

The silence was stifling. She wanted to scream just to break the tension, but she kept her mouth shut, willing herself to remain composed.

Today was the day, and she could not stop the anxiety that kept wrecking her. 

The kitchen was her first stop. She needed something to occupy her hands, something to anchor her thoughts.
