A few hours later, Anna found herself in the back of an expensive police car. She still could not erase the image of Victor being arrested from her head.

The look he had given her, it was the most chilling one she had ever received in her life. It was not something she was going to be forgetting anytime soon.

“You okay?” The detective next to her asked.

“I know, it’s a lot to take in. We know about the whole situation. You don’t have to worry, we are not going to do anything to you.”

“I’m more worried about Victor getting out and making me pay.” She chuckled with humor, her heart pounding in her chest.

“No, there is no way that man would be seeing the light of day anytime soon. We have enough to tie him down for multiple lifetimes. The evidence we got anonymously was all we needed.”
