Chapter 33
"That's enough," Alex said as he dropped Mia's hand down and let go of her wrist.
Mia gulped and nodded as she placed the ointment back in the first aid box. She picked up the box, straightened up, and as she turned around to leave, she tripped on the hem of her dress. She gasped in fright, as she fell on Alex, and the first aid box fell to the floor. Her hands clung to his shoulders for support, and her eyes were shut tight.
Alex was surprisingly holding her. Either to stop her from falling on the bed, or he hold her protectively to support her. Mia opened her eyes and met with warm green ones. They stared locked for a few fleeting seconds, without saying anything to each other. While Mia's heart hammered hard against her chest, Alex's own maintained a slow and steady beating.
