Chapter 8

Sophia’s POV

“Sorry about your mother,” Lucas said with a depressed look on his face.

“Don’t worry, I’ll get over it, and we’ll catch her killers together, okay?” I said, to which he responded, “Yes, we will.”

“I better get going,” I said, “it’s almost sunrise.”

I took a meditative pose and astral projected back to Miss Ava’s house and then materialized there.

“Whoa!!!” I exclaimed. “That actually worked.”

“I better get some sleep,” I thought, “it’ll be a long day.”

I fell asleep on the couch, somehow reassured that everything was going to be okay.

I woke up feeling happy and bright in the morning. I had dreamt of Lucas all the while I was asleep, and it gave me such incomprehensible joy that is hard to describe in words.

I quickly went to check on Miss Ava, who I remembered was awfully depressed by the news of my mom’s death.

“Good morning, Miss Ava,” I greeted as I came into her room with a tray
