Chapter 7. A Passionate Goodbye Kiss

The next day, a pre-wedding party was organized which started at lunchtime and went on till evening. All the guests enjoyed the time off from their hectic lives. The food was amazing and so were the activities organized. With only a day left to the wedding, they tried to make the best of the opportunity and enjoy it to the fullest. There was a dart game which Denver won. Aunt Pauline and her team won the Scavenger Hunt game. Laughter and jokes filled the air but Drake and Nate avoided one another.  They didn't fight and neither did they talk. They steered clear of one another. There was an air of helplessness and dejection around Drake. He avoided looking at Alexis, trying hard to accept that he would be gone soon, and maybe when he returned, she would be married off by then. It hurt him to even think about it but did he have any choice? Life had been hard on him. He had no hopes for his first love Allison was right after all. His love was meant for sacrifice.
