The next morning, Claire woke up early to get ready to rush to the bakery. It might be a weekend for others, but for her, there was no holiday. With a huge loan amount on her head, she couldn’t afford to take a single day off. She started having second thoughts about Chris's offer. If his family didn’t hand over the reins of the company to him, she would have to continue with the drama to get her payment. But Chris seemed to have completely disappeared from her life for the last few days. She wondered what was going on at his end. Quickly making coffee and sandwiches, she tucked in quickly. Being short on staff, she needed to reach the bakery on time so that she could handle the day’s work effectively.
