Chapter 14. At Nick's Party

Nick freshened up and wallowed in self-pity for a few minutes. Then his eyes lighted up as a brilliant idea struck him. Why hadn't he thought of it before? He would go to uncle Henry's house and meet his cousin Sean's girl, Vienna. Sean had rescued her from her horrid uncle and ever since she had been living at his uncle Henry's house. She was a seventeen-year-old girl with a golden heart unlike the other girls of her age, and Iris could connect with her well. She might pour her heart out to Vienna and Nick would know what she thought about him, what she wanted in a man, why she was off guys as well as all the matters of her heart.

"Am I not a genius?" chuckled Nick as he flew down the staircase. His ma and Nelson watched him with their jaws dropped to the floor.

"He's talking as well as chuckling to himself, ma," Nelson said, shaking his head. He didn't go to the restaurant as he wanted to help prepare for the birthday party.

His ma rolled her eyes. "Ten minutes ba
