Chapter 11. Attention

Zane POV

I am ashamed of myself.

I vowed not to touch Elara, but the pull of the mate bond is too strong.

She came to me last night when she had a nightmare.

Not the others.

She came to me, just like she had before she left for college.

She feels safe with me and knows I will always protect her.

She is curled up against my chest, sleeping soundly.

Her legs are tangled with mine, and her arm is flung around my waist.

Tiny puffs of breath hit my chest as she snores lightly.

I used to think it was annoying when she snored, but now it is kind of cute.

The lock on my bedroom door flips, and Zeke and Zeus come barging in.

When they see Elara in my arms, I can feel them both seething with anger.

I press my fingers to my lips. “She had a nightmare,” I whisper.

“I thought those had stopped,” Zeke says quietly.

I shake my head no and she cuddles closer to my chest.
