Chapter 25. Missing Something

Zeke POV

“You aren’t to bring any dates to the Winter Solstice Celebration,” my mother scolds us. “You have a mate, and it is time you begin to act like it.”

“How are we supposed to act like it when you won’t let us near her?” Zeus grumbles.

“Did you not see the look on her face?” Dad snarls. “You hurt her far more than Kevin or Dr. Davis ever did.”

His words sting, but I know they aren’t true. “We are not the ones that assaulted her and manipulated her,” I snap at him.

“She trusted you,” Mom screams at me. “And you broke that trust by blaming her for what has happened to her. None of this is her fault.”

“It’s not my fault either,” I shout back. “Why should I accept a broken mate?”

Mom shakes her head and fights back the tears in her eyes. “I did not raise you to be this insensitive. What is wrong with you?”
