Chapter 24. Poison
Elara POV
I sit down at the breakfast table, and I acknowledge my mother and father but not the triplets. I don’t spare them a second glance as Mom and I talk about the upcoming Winter Solstice Celebration.
“Unfortunately, it is expected that we invite all of the packs. It is an opportunity for those to meet their mates who have not already found them within their packs,” my mother tells me.
I smile weakly, just like I do every time the topic of mates is brought up. The thought of the triplets finding their mates makes me physically ill, and I lose my appetite every time. Placing my napkin on my plate, I scoot back from the table.
“If you will excuse me,” I say as politely as I can. “I am feeling unwell.”
“Will you be staying in the pack house today?” Zeus asks, but I ignore him. It is none of his business where I go.
