“Geez, Leiah, I didn’t know I forgot that many things!” I said as I drove into our property.

“I’m sorry. I should have double-checked with you. Emery thought the extra bottle of wine was brought here.”

“No, I can see the box on the front door. It’s alright. There’s lots of alcohol to go through right now.”

I might as well grab my favourite grape juice from the fridge while I’m here since I’m on a no-alcohol diet for the next seven months. I searched the house for the itinerary and the cheque Leiah’s mom wrote for the hospital. I could have sworn I left them in the kitchen, but they weren’t there.
