“To answer your question, I am taking you to my house,” Roma said.

Miranda fell quiet and they walked on in companionable silence till they got to Roma’s pack house.

“No one is home?” Miranda asked as they entered.

“No,” Roma answered. “I lost my dad some time ago and my mother is just recovering from the shock. They were so much in love. I had been scared she would do something stupid but thank the Goddess that she was wise not to attempt any such thing. She has gone to work though,” she said shrugging.

“What does she do?” Miranda asked.

“She is a midwife, she helps the people of the pack give birth to their pups,” she replied, smiling proudly.

“Ah, that’s good to hear!” Miranda replied, her voice filled with admiration for Rima’s mother.

“Please, make yourself comfortable,” she said, waving Miranda to a seat.
