Chapter 6
“Jolene, come out of that room!” Pamela shouted as she walked in the direction of where Jolene was staying. She chewed on her lips in worry, feeling helpless as she thought of her grandniece. After Jolene woke up from the coma two weeks ago, she had barely been herself. Fine, she knew Jolene wasn’t the social type, but the girl hadn’t been much of a recluse as she was.
She preferred now to stay in her room dawdling and doing what nobody knew of, and most times, Pamela could swear she heard cries from her room late at night.
Rapping quietly on the door, she lowered her voice and whispered in a calm tone as one would do to a wounded animal. “Jolene, would you like to join us for breakfast today?” She sighed inwardly. She was tired of having the maid send the food to Jolene every time. It was high time she put the horrors of the past behind her and started living again.
“No, Aunt Pam, I will eat inside my bedroom like before.”
