Seven years later
The past was a thing of the past no matter how memorable it was, and when it came to a point where the present was bothered by it and the future hanging precariously on it, the best choice one had to make was to forget it or move away from it. That was Jolene’s thought as she sat her grandaunt down one fateful evening and told her she would like to move and settle in a new city.
She had had the surgery eight months after the accident and loved her new face. Though she never went back to high school, she had been confident about going out and had basked in the sun and all that she had missed while in self-isolation before she moved to college.
