Chapter 5
Jolene ran, breathing in the cool air mixed with the scent of roses and earth. She had always loved December, roses, and chocolate. Patricia had always teased her that it could be that she loved roses because it was her mother’s name and December because it was her birth month and called her biased, but she had always argued against it that it was not so.
She stopped running and lay down on the grass, feeling warm and loved as the flowers surrounded and doted on her. Who wouldn’t love the season? She remembered firing back at Patricia. The month had a feeling that always made her giddy, but she found it hard to explain, except the person had experienced it before. She had felt she was weird by her exceptional love for the season until Tristan confided in her that he also loved the month apart from the festivities it brought along with it.
She smiled at the thought of Tristan, and as if her thoughts conjured him, she saw him beside her. She flung herself at him and kissed
