Chapter 27. Teddy Bear

“Are you ready to go to school, Asher?” Auntie asked me as I woke up almost at the same time as Lee because of her alarm.

Auntie was sitting on the edge of the mattress where I lay, and as she asked that question, she gently caressed my cheeks and tucked my hair behind my ears. My hair was probably all over the place since I had just woken up.

I nodded at Auntie in response.

“Don’t worry, Mommy… I’ll take care of Asher. I’ll watch over him—I will also try to make him happy by making him laugh. We can do it with Paige and Sarah…” Lee said, just standing up from her bed and stretching.

“Okay, honey…” Auntie smiled at me, and then she stood up and kissed Lee on the forehead, and I saw her mouthed to Lee, “Thank you.” Maybe she was thanking her for saying that she would voluntarily join Paige and Sarah in helping out.

It had been three days already since Mommy and Daddy’s burial service, and it was already Wednesday today. I actually want
