Chapter 31. His Never-Ending Stories

“Where… where have you been, Asher?” I asked him when I saw him just entering through our front door. I furrowed my brow slightly because I didn’t know he had gone out. I hadn’t noticed that he was missing from my room because the lights were off when I left.

I had woken up because I needed to pee and wanted to drink some water, so I went downstairs, and now I was in the kitchen. I didn’t know what time it was because I hadn’t looked at the wall clock in my room before coming down, but I was sure it was still early because it was dark outside.

After asking him that, he immediately put his finger to his lips, signaling me to lower my voice.

I took a quick drink of water and then walked over to him, asking again, “Where have you been?”

He ignored me. He suddenly went upstairs and headed straight to my room, and I followed him immediately.
