Chapter 68. Meeting Her Dad?

The eyes of the man were intense, almost glowing in the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy. Maddie’s breath caught in her throat, and for a moment, she was paralyzed by fear as she stared at him. 

Could this have been the hybrid’s true form? As she stared longer, she found out that she did not know him, she could not recognize him. Although she did not know everyone in the town, she was somehow sure that the man was not one of them. 

The man didn’t move, seemingly waiting for her to make her first move. He was almost naked. He had no shirt on and only dirty pants with huge tears hugging his legs. He kept looking at her, a look on his face that she could not decipher. 

Gathering her courage, Maddie stood up slowly, her heart pounding hard in her chest. “Who…who are you?” She asked, her voice a bit steady despite the fear eating her up from the inside. 

He tilted his head slightly, a faint smile playing on his lips. I’ve been waiting for
