Maddie’s heart skipped a beat at the sight of Alpha Nate. She should have been pissed at him for what he had done at the Royal Ball, basically telling everyone that she was his mate and ruining her life without asking her or talking about it first. 

But she didn’t, she was more occupied with the fact that she was from the Shadow Pack of rogue werewolves and that her father was responsible for the death of the guy’s mother and the reason why his father was now mentally insane. 

The unexpected arrival of the royal convoy added another layer of tension to an already overwhelming situation. She quickly glanced at Jacob, who was equally surprised but tried to mask his concern.
