Chapter 92. Let the Hating Begin

Maddie and Nate stared at each other for a few seconds longer than normal until someone interrupted them by talking to him. He turned away and placed his focus on the person, it was one of the civilians. 

“Remember to stick to the plan,” Jacob pulled Maddie out of her mind with his words. 

She looked at him and nodded, but then she remembered that she wanted to ask him something. “Why are you quiet all of a sudden? Are you good?” Everything had been okay, but she noticed the sudden change when Beta Josiah and her were speaking. 

“Yeah,” He scoffed the word out, forcing a chuckle. “Why wouldn’t I be?” He shrugged, but based on the elevated pitch of his tone, she knew that he was lying. Everything was not okay, she just needed to find out what was the culprit. 

“Okay, if you say so,” She replied before looking back at where the Alpha was but he had disappeared and was no longer there. “Let’s keep moving, shouldn’t we?” She asked Jacob.
